A men's skincare routine for oily skin
5 July 2026
Oily skin is one of the most common types in men, and also one of the most rewarding once you give it what it needs. The key isn't to dry it out, it's to balance it. This is the men's skincare routine we recommend.
Cleansing and hydration
Cleanse your face twice a day with a gel or foam containing salicylic acid, niacinamide or activated charcoal: they clean deeply without stripping. Avoid alcohol-based products, which push oil production even higher.
Always moisturise, even with oily skin. Choose light *oil-free* gel textures with hyaluronic acid or aloe vera.
Exfoliation and protection
Exfoliate once or twice a week to unclog pores and prevent ingrown hairs. A chemical BHA exfoliant beats an aggressive physical scrub.
Always finish with sunscreen, even on cloudy days. It's the single step that does most to prevent skin ageing.
One extra that makes the difference
A clay or charcoal mask once a week purifies and mattifies. And at the barbershop, a proper facial ritual leaves the skin ready to start from zero.
