Barbershops open on Sundays and holidays in Andorra: how it works

Is there a barbershop open on Sundays or public holidays in Andorra? Plenty of them, far more than you'd find on either side of the border. Andorra is a shopping and tourism country, and it shows in the opening hours.

Why Sunday isn't a dead day here

In Spain the shutters come down on Sunday. Andorra doesn't work that way: local business lives off the visitor, and the visitor arrives exactly at the weekend.

From December to April, anyone heading up to ski lands on Friday and drives back down on Sunday. Long weekends and shopping trips do the same thing. A Sunday afternoon in Escaldes-Engordany feels a lot closer to a Saturday than to a Sunday.

Then there's the local calendar. Andorra has its own public holidays and they don't line up with its neighbours': 8 September for Meritxell, 14 March for Constitution Day, and every parish with its own festa major. If you're coming from Barcelona or Toulouse and you assume your own calendar, you'll turn up on the wrong day.

How to check for a slot without calling anyone

Two ways, and both take less time than sending a message.

First: the shop's Google listing. That's where the current hours live, holiday notices included. Check it before you turn up at the door, especially around key dates.

Second, and the one that actually settles it: the online diary. Booking here isn't filling in a form someone reads tomorrow. The diary shows only the slots that genuinely exist. If a Sunday comes up with a free time, that time is yours the moment you confirm it. And if nothing comes up, you have your answer without spending a phone call.

The good days fill up first

Here's the trick almost nobody uses: Sundays and holidays get booked out days ahead, not at the last minute.

During ski season and over Christmas, afternoon slots vanish. If the weekend is your only real window, take the appointment the moment you see it. And if you're already in the chair, book the next one before you leave — best-spent minute of your month.
